Alexander Tabatadze met with Chair of the Defense Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies

The Chair of the Defense and Security Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Alexander Tabatadze, met with the Chair of the Defense Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic, Antonino Minardo.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to Georgia–Italy cooperation, the international and regional security environment, challenges in the field of cybersecurity, and matters associated with hybrid threats. Attention was also focused on opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation in the defense sector.

The meeting underscored Georgia’s important role in promoting security, stability, and economic development in the region. The participants noted Georgia’s growing significance as a bridge between Europe and Asia and as an important partner in regional cooperation.

Alexander Tabatadze thanked the Italian side for its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. He emphasized the importance of the close partnership and defense cooperation between Georgia and Italy.

The parties expressed their readiness to strengthen relations between the respective parliamentary committees, including cooperation in the exchange of experience and best practices, as well as collaboration on issues related to security, technological innovation, and regional stability.

Special attention was paid to the importance of parliamentary relations and bilateral visits, which serve as an important instrument for further deepening the partnership between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by members of the Defense and Security Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Zviad Shalamberidze and Ioseb Jorbenadze.
