The Chair of the Defence and Security Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Aleksandre Tabatadze, together with committee members Zviad Shalamberidze and Ioseb Jorbenadze, met with the Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Italian Senate, Maurizio Gasparri.

During the meeting, the parties discussed Georgia–Italy relations and prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation. They also exchanged views on the regional security environment and existing challenges.

The discussion highlighted Georgia’s important role as a bridge between Europe and Asia, as well as its contribution to strengthening peace, stability, and security in the region.

Aleksandre Tabatadze expressed gratitude to the Italian side for its support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for backing the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration process. He also emphasized Italy’s significant contribution to enhancing Georgia’s defence and security capabilities.

The parties reaffirmed their readiness to further develop bilateral cooperation and placed particular emphasis on the importance of parliamentary relations and reciprocal visits.
