Beka Odisharia: Thanks to our foreign partners and high-ranking international experts on diaspora issues, whose advice and recommendations are invaluable in the implementation of diaspora policy

In the framework of the working visit to the Republic of Ireland, the members of the Georgian delegation held a meeting with the international expert in diaspora issues, the representative of the scientific diaspora organization "Diaspora Matters", Professor Kingsley Aikins.

Beka Odisharia thanked Kingsley Aikins for his active cooperation in the direction of diaspora issues and for his recommendations.

"On my initiative, back in December 2022, I invited you to a committee meeting. Based on your suggestions, we conducted numerous in-depth studies on diaspora and migration processes. Additionally, following your recommendation and with the support of ICMPD, and under the authorship of Professor Martin Russell, we conducted an important thematic study in the direction of diaspora engagement and attracting sustainable diaspora capital in 2023", - Beka Odisharia stated.

Kingsley Aikins shared his experience with the delegation and expressed his willingness to assist the Georgian authorities to enhance relations with the diaspora and engage them actively in the nation's development. He highlighted Georgia's potential due to the presence of successful Georgians around the world.

The Georgian delegation emphasized the government's view of the diaspora as a valuable resource for the country's reconstruction. They discussed leveraging the diaspora's knowledge and resources for attracting investments and fostering economic growth.

The members of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee thanked Kingsley Aikins and agreed on future cooperation. Beka Odisharia also invited Professor Kingsley Aikins to the Great Diaspora Economic Forum, scheduled for May next year in Tbilisi.
