Beka Odisharia: There are many successful diasporas in the world, but the most acceptable for Georgia is the Irish Model, which is focused on the economic skills of the diaspora, attracting direct diaspora investments

Beka Odisharia: There are many successful diasporas in the world, but the most acceptable for Georgia is the Irish Model, which is focused on the economic skills of the diaspora, attracting direct diaspora investments

During the working visit of the parliamentary delegation to the Republic of Ireland, a meeting was held between Beka Odisharia, the Chairman of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, and committee members Nodar Turdzeladze, Resan Kontselidze, and Fridon Injia with Seán Fleming, the Minister of State for Diaspora Affairs. The primary objective of this meeting was to learn about the Republic of Ireland's experience in managing relations with its diaspora and to introduce the "Irish model" in terms of engaging with the Georgian diaspora.

"There are many successful diasporas in the world, but the most acceptable for Georgia is the "Irish model", which is focused on the economic skills of the diaspora, attracting direct diaspora investments, successful commercial projects and sharing the international experience of middle management of large transnational companies. I have repeatedly stated before the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Parliament that the attitude of the Irish diaspora towards their own country is exemplary for our country. Effective establishment of the "Irish model" will help us to achieve economic success", - Beka Odisharia stated.

As Beka Odisharia mentioned during the meeting, there are plans to organize a large economic forum for successful Georgians abroad in Georgia in the near future. During this event, members of the diaspora will have the opportunity to personally meet high-ranking officials and engage in direct communication with them. They will also be informed about various state economic programs, most of which are coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. These programs and business portfolios are designed to align with the interests of the Georgian diaspora.

Beka Odisharia extended a personal invitation to the Minister to participate in this forum and share the Irish experience of diaspora relations with the Georgian government and diaspora representatives. The Minister of State expressed his readiness to take part in the economic forum for successful diasporas in Georgia and provide qualified assistance to Georgia in terms of knowledge and experience sharing. Both parties agreed to collaborate in the future.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Ireland, H.E. Giorgi Zurabashvili, as well as representatives of the embassy.
