The Parliament considers the Bill on Medicine and Pharmaceutical Activity with the II reading.

The Changes facilitate the manufacturers, retailers and importers of the pharm-products to establish GMP and GDP standards.

“The changes aim not only to improve the accessibility to the medicines but to ensure a high quality of the products. Thus, it is a complex process ensuring the gradual implementation of quality and price formation procedures”, - the reporter, First Deputy Health Minister, Tamar Gabunia stated at the plenary session.

The Bill reflects the remarks expressed at the I reading. The co-reporter, Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Dimitri Khundadze stated that “the Bill does not concern prices but the quality to impose the obligation to the local manufacturers and importers to ensure the a high-quality, safe and effective, internationally recognized medicines to the Georgian market as ineffective and non-safe medicines pose the risk. High-quality and safe medicines shall be provided in the country”.

The Parliament approved the Bill with 81 votes.
