The meeting of Irakli Zarkua with the representatives of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy

The First Deputy Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, Irakli Zarkua held an introductory meeting with the representatives of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
The parties overviewed the cooperation directions. As the WFD Country Representative, Lasha Nakashidze stated, the organization, backed with the financial support of the British Government, plans to undertake a new long-term program with the local authority as one of the components and hence, the WFD is interested in the priorities of the Committee and its strategic approach to the local development and decentralization.
“We keep cooperating with the Foundation for years, including in terms of the Parliamentary oversight and now, they expressed the will to cooperate with our Committee. A new program scheduled by the Foundation concerns environmental democracy. We have selected several pilot municipalities to hold local climate change and environmental activities. We are glad that their vision coincides with the plans of our Committee on decentralization, local authority, oversight on the executive authority etc. I hope, the cooperation will be productive”, - I. Zarkua stated.
