The Health Care and Social Issues Committee deliberating on the hospital service financing reform

The Committee, within its oversight activity, held an offsite meeting in Borjomi to discuss the hospital service financing reform with the representatives of the clinics of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Shida Kartli regions.
The meeting was as well attended by Single Mandate MPs, and the Minister of Health, Labour and Social Affairs, Mikheil Sarjveladze; and his First Deputy, Tamar Gabunia.
The series of offsite meetings of the Committee held in various regions for a couple of months aim at the consideration of the hospital service financing reform and the respective challenges.
MPs and executive officials heard the answers of the responsible persons of the clinics to their questions and held a discussion on the DRG financing model, its advantages and disadvantages, and prospects to improve the offered model further.
The meeting was initiated by the Committee and backed by the UNDP Project “Stronger Parliamentary Institutions in Georgia”.
