Mariam Lashkhi and Shota Berekashvili participated in the meeting of the Prime Minister and the Business Association representatives

Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, and Shota Berekashvili, Chair of the Economic Policy Committee, participated in the he meeting of the Prime Minister and the Business Association representatives.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze introduced the higher education reform concept to the private sector. The labour market analysis was set as one of the central topics of the meeting. As noted, the acceptance of students into universities will be based on this analysis, which requires the collaboration of the authorities and the business sector.

Special emphasis was placed on the professions with a significant shortage of graduates.

According to Ms. Lashkhi, human capital is a key driving force of the economy and the education system shall meet the real demands.

“When we talk about professions and skills that are in shortage, it is important to consider the needs and challenges of the business sector. Higher education reform should be focused not only on awarding diplomas but also on creating real career opportunities, promoting economic growth, and strengthening the country's global competitiveness. Therefore, the active participation of the private sector is not an additional element — it is a necessary condition for the success of the reform”, - she stated.

The meeting was attended by Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Economy and Sustainable Development Minister, and Givi Mikanadze, the Education, Science and Youth Minister
