Meeting of Merab Kvaraia with Representatives of Swedish and Georgian Local Government and Education Sphere

The Deputy Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, Merab Kvaraia met with the representatives of Swedish and Georgian Local Government and Education Sphere involved in the project “Education for All”.

The meeting focused on the project funded by the Swedish Self-Government, which has been implemented in Georgia for three years. The project seeks to share experiences between countries and increment student commitment in school self-government.

The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, Genadi Margvelashvili, who briefed the guests on the ongoing education reform in Georgia and dwelt on the necessities of schools. The MP thanked the guests for their commitments in Georgia and hoped that similar projects would continue in the future.

The Chair of the regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, M. Kvaraia noticed that execution of comparable undertakings and sharing encounters between the two countries significant for advancement of the education sector: "Education stands out as our main priority, and the support and assistance of our European partners involved is of utmost importance. Such projects contribute to the strengthening of the education sector, and we hope that this project, involving Swedish and Georgian government representatives, will move to a new stage of further cooperation"/

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden, Dimitri Tskitishvili, who spoke about the ongoing education reform in Georgia and introduced the Swedish representatives to the activities of the Friendship Group.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Nino Vibliani, the Deputy Mayor of Zugdidi, Konstantine Kakava, the Deputy Head of Education, Culture, Youth Issues and Sports Department of Zugdidi Municipality, Zamira Ghadua and Manana Nachkebia, Zugdidi Saint George Theological Gymnasium.
