Paata Kvizhinadze, the Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, gives a positive assessment of the operation of the National Bank.

As he underlined after the report on the NB Activity for 2024 introduced to the Committee, all parameters and figures indicate the successful operation of the National Bank.

“Why do we approve the report of the National Bank for 2024? The reason is that inflation has been maintained within the normal standard for the past few years, even going below. Additionally, monthly currency reserves have been increased, including in April, and refinancing loans have been slightly decreased. Consequently, international organisations have demonstrated positive attitudes, and the number of defaulted loans has been reduced. At that point, our attention was particularly drawn to the economic financing, which has increased by 17%, primarily sourced from banks. It was also emphasised that the deposits of natural persons have increased by 16%, while those of legal entities have increased by 13%. As also highlighted, we actively strive to ensure access to the EU instant payment system. He asserted, “All the aforementioned factors are sufficient to gauge the success of the National Bank’s operations”.

The Report of the National Bank was introduced to the Committee by the NB President, Natia Turnava.
