Shalva Papuashvili met with India’s First Resident Ambassador to Georgia

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Georgia, Amit Kumar Mishra.

Shalva Papuashvili welcomed the opening of the Embassy of India in Tbilisi and congratulated Amit Kumar Mishra on his appointment as India’s first resident ambassador to Georgia.

The Speaker highlighted the growing cooperation between Georgia and India and positively recalled his productive official visit to India last year.

The parties discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, with particular emphasis on strengthening parliamentary cooperation. In this regard, they noted the establishment of a Georgia Friendship Group in the Indian Parliament. Papuashvili stated that the Parliament of Georgia is open to exchanges both between friendship groups and between sectoral committees.

The meeting also covered cooperation in the fields of trade, tourism, education, and culture. Ambassador Mishra noted that many Indian companies would be interested in cooperating with Georgia, particularly in the pharmaceutical and information technology sectors.

The Ambassador reaffirmed the Republic of India’s unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
