Meeting of Shota Khabareli with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea

Shota Khabareli, the head of the friendship group of the Parliament of Georgia with the Republic of Korea, along with members Mariam Lashkhi, Greta Tsitsava, Irakli Mezurnishvili, and Fridon Injia, met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Byung-Won and the accompanying delegation from the Republic of Korea.
The discussions centered on the existing relations between the two countries and highlighted priority areas for further strengthening bilateral ties.
During the meeting, it was noted that active consultations at the governmental level are underway to enhance free trade and economic relations between Georgia and Korea. Additionally, intensive negotiations are ongoing regarding the commencement of direct air travel between Tbilisi and Seoul, as well as the establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Georgia.
Shota Khabareli raised the topic of visa-free travel for Georgian citizens to the Republic of Korea, emphasizing its potential to boost tourism between the two countries.
In response, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea expressed interest in the initiative and committed to discussing it further with relevant ministries and authorities upon his return to Seoul.
The importance of organizing bilateral visits between parliamentary friendship groups was also underscored during the meeting.
