The meeting of Sozar Subari and Irakli Zarkua with the SDC representatives

The Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, Sozar Subari accompanied by Irakli Zarkua held a meeting with the representatives of the Swedish Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC) and the International Advisory Organization “Mezo-Partner”.
The parties exchanged their positions concerning the economic development of the municipalities and dwelt on the challenges in this direction.
“We echoed certain ideas, including programs and projects, as well as the ways for our international partners to enhance our municipalities. It was a productive meeting and I believe we will further meet in the Capital, as well as in our municipalities and regions to get informed about their local challenges”, - I. Zarkua stated.
The meeting was attended by Marcus Jenal, Frank Waeltring, Beka Tagauri, Sofia Svanadze and Zviad Archuadze.
Since 2012, SDC along with ADA in close cooperation with UNDP support the Georgian Government in the decentralization reform and enhancement of the local development and regional and central institutional capacity. Within this cooperation, the Georgian Government received certain aid for the development of the policy and processes of Local Economic Development (LED).
In 2021, SDC initiated the establishment of the partnership for local economic development aiming at the estimation of the LED current system in Georgia and aid to the actors in the development of the LED further visions and facilitation of enhancement and sustainability of the achieved outcomes.
