The First Deputy Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Aluda Gudushauri held a meeting with the representatives of the National Competition Agency and deliberated on the activity, ongoing works and plans of the Agency.
“We received more information about the progress in the sphere of protection of the consumers’ interests within this period, as well as in terms of the improvement of the business environment and competition. We heard the vision of the Agency regarding the reforms to be undertaken”, - A. Gudushauri stated.
According to him, the enactment of the Law on Consumers’ Rights was a revolutionary step taken by the Parliament of the 2020-2024 Term.
“None of the preceding Parliaments succeeded to adopt the Law on Consumers’ Rights, which constitutes a direct EU integration commitment and we have fulfilled it. The Law is impressive indeed since it ensures the protection of the consumers’ rights in Georgia to the same extent as in any leading European countries”, - he added underlining that the collaboration between the Parliament, Government and the Competition Agency is of high importance.
“Now, we are capable to declare that every citizen in our country is better protected, and the consumers’ rights in Georgia are better protected than in some leading countries”, - he stated.
