The Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, Beka Odisharia attended the first candle-lighting ceremony on Hanukkah.
“I wish you a happy Hanukkah, my Jewish brothers and sisters! You were always winners over your enemies and evil! I believe Israel and the Israeli people will come victorious this time too and enjoy the peace it deserves. I want to extend my particular greetings to the Jews who immigrated from Georgia, to our kith and kin, our Georgian Jews! Georgia is your homeland and always waits for you”, - he noted.
The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili; the members of the executive authority, the Ambassador of Israel, H.E. Hadas Meitzad and other invitees.
Hanukkah symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, kindness over evil, and justice over injustice; it is celebrated by lighting eight candles – each per day.
