
A working meeting on issues related to the development of early and preschool education and care was held in the Parliament at the initiative of Eka Sephashvili, a member of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee and Deputy Chair of the Political Group “People’s Power”.
Eka Sephashvili, who serves as the thematic rapporteur for early and preschool education within the Committee, met with members of the Tbilisi City Assembly and the Head of the Tbilisi Kindergarten Management Agency, Guram Okropiridze. The meeting focused on discussing the recommendations developed during the conference held on 6 November by the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, titled “Development of Early and Preschool Education in Georgia – Challenges, Achievements and Future Perspectives.”
According to Eka Sephashvili, 15 recommendations were formulated at the conference. One of the key recommendations concerns the promotion of national folklore, animated characters, and national authors among preschool children.
“The recommendations also address the development and introduction of a system for strengthening the professional activities and career advancement of early and preschool educators. In addition, they envisage defining the basic minimum remuneration for early educators and preschool teachers”, - she stated.
She added that work on these recommendations has already begun in cooperation with the relevant ministries.
