
The Economic Policy Committee reviewed the Draft law on Roads, introduced by the Chair of the Committee, Shota Berekashvili.
Pursuant to the draft, the roadside zone area of international significance highways will be expanded from 100 meters to 200 meters. Within the territory that falls under this zone, any type of activity will be permitted only on the basis of prior agreement with the road owner.
According to the reporter, the Government will determine the types of activities that may be carried out within the roadside zone of international significance highways.
The draft law, which the legislative body is reviewing under an expedited procedure, was prepared on the legislative initiative of Members of Parliament: Shota Berekashvili, Giorgi Barvenashvili, Anton Obolashvili, Levan Machavariani, Irakli Mezurnishvili, and Mariam Lashkhi.
Following the support of the Economic Policy Committee, the draft law will be submitted to an extraordinary plenary session of Parliament for consideration.
