The Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee deliberated on the Draft Law on Higher Education for the I reading and expedited procedure, concerning the higher education reform. The draft was introduced by the Deputy Education, Science and Youth Minister, Zviad Gabisonia.

According to him, a new model of financing of the higher education system is being introduced, namely, the study in the state-founded Universities will be fully financed by the state. At that, a 3+1+1 model is established in the system, where three years cover the bachelor’s studies, and one - master’s courses.

The amendments also envisage the extension of the term for the development of the online university concept/model and standard to January 1, 2028.

The Committee approved the Draft.
