The Chair of the Agrarian Issues Committee, Gela Samkharauli held a meeting with the members of the Committee on Rural Affairs of the Seimas of Lithuania and deliberated on the EU integration of Georgia and the fulfillment of the 9-point recommendations.
The emphasis was placed on the Georgia-Lithuania cooperation in the education and agrarian spheres.
“We thanked our Lithuanian colleagues for supporting the territorial integrity and EU integration of Georgia. Their experience in this regard is of utmost value for us. Their support serves as an aid to some extent to get through the path that Lithuania has already covered to the EU and NATO membership. Our colleagues asked about the relevant processes in the country, including the Draft Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence, on which our response was comprehensive. Lithuania facilitates the education of Georgian students at various universities of Europe, for which we are highly grateful”, - G. Samkharauli noted.
The parties touched upon the cooperation in sector spheres.
“We undertake twinning programs in the agrarian sector with active engagement of Lithuania. Their experience in terms of cooperatives is significant. We overviewed the challenges that our country encounters, including the scarcity of land and low yield. We aspire to intensify our cooperation in this direction and share their experience”, - G. Samkharauli added.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Agrarian Issues Committee and the Chair of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, David Songulashvili.
