Meeting of Irakli Mezurnishvili with Ambassador of Japan

Irakli Mezurnishvili, the First Deputy Chairman of the Culture Committee, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, H.E. Ishizuka Hideki.

The parties talked about the close relations between the two countries and issues of future cooperation.

"We had a highly productive meeting with the Japanese Ambassador. Georgia and Japan share a strong friendship and partnership. Our recent high-level visit to Japan led by the Speaker of the Parliament has further enhanced our relations. Mr. Ambassador extended his congratulations on the positive recommendation from the European Commission regarding candidate status. He emphasized that Japan is a robust partner of the European Union and, as such, will offer maximum support to Georgia in its integration process. Japan is committed to taking all necessary steps to bolster this process even further", - Irakli Mezurnishvili commented after the meeting.

As the First Deputy Chairman noted, organizational issues related to the implementation of several specific projects were discussed at the meeting.

"The plan to organize a music festival in Kaspi featuring a renowned Japanese pianist is indeed an exciting initiative. Holding such an event in a region where there are occupied villages will carry a powerful message of peace. Additionally, the idea of hosting a Japanese film festival in Georgia is also highly appealing. Mr. Ambassador's creative ideas and proposals will be instrumental in strengthening the already close ties between Georgia and Japan, especially in the realm of culture, which serves as a significant bond between our two nations. We are fully committed to supporting these endeavors and look forward to further enhancing our cultural exchanges", - Irakli Mezurnishvili noted.
