Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, met with the Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus and the international expert for the circular economic project, Wim Van Breusegem.

The central topic of the meeting encompassed the development of the technical regulations for the establishment of the packaging material management system and the packaging waste management. The parties addressed the WB Bluening the Black Sea program and the recommendations therewith on the mechanisms of the sustainable management of the packaging waste.

The emphasis was placed on the challenges lingering in the country in terms of the packaging waste management, including the role of the organizations of the Extended Producer Responsibility in the waste management process.
