The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze and the Vice-Speaker, Nino Tsilosani, met with the representatives of the Georgian Producers' Extended Liability Association “Wasteless”; the representatives of the Association introduced a presentation on the sustainable management of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
Emphasis was placed on raising public awareness about the management of the aforementioned waste and the significance of active civic participation, to be ensured through a wide-scale campaign. This campaign aims to promote the separated collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment, with the engagement of state agencies and local authorities.
As noted, thus, it will facilitate the enforcement of the producers’ extended liability and the achievement of the objectives of the Waste Management Code, which refers not to the disposal of waste in landfills, but to its recycling and reintegration into production within the framework of the circular economy.
Maia Bitadze and Nino Tsilosani expressed their commitment to actively participating in this process.
