Maia Bitadze participated in the Foresters Day ceremony

Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, participated in the Foresters Day ceremony in the Botanical Garden and addressed the attendees.

The representatives of the legislative and executive authorities congratulated the foresters on their professional day and thanked them for their contribution to the development of the forest sector.

“It is a great honor for me to celebrate the Forester’s Professional Day together with you. I would like to extend my greetings to every forester — to each and every person who, even if not a forester by profession, has been contributing for years to the restoration and care of Georgia’s biodiversity, including its forest resources. I wish you great success and hope that each coming Professional Day brings even more goodness — both in terms of your professional growth and in the improvement of your working environment. You can rest assured that the Government and the Parliament of Georgia will continue to provide increasing support every year toward these goals”, - she stated.

M. Bitadze also thanked the Environmental Protection and Agriculture Minister, David Songulashvili, for not merely continuing the tradition of celebrating the professional day but introducing novelties in the forest reform.

The lapel badges for successful activity were delivered to the representatives of the National Forest Agency, the Protected Territories Agency, the Department of Environmental Protection, and the Ajara AR Forest Agency; the representatives of the academic and scientific circles were also awarded.

With the initiative of David Songulashvili, the Environmental Protection Minister, the meritorious foresters were granted the status and the special award.

The ceremony was attended by the representatives of the legislative and executive authorities, the academic circles and environmental NGOs.

The ceremony included the presentation of the video “I am a Forester”.
