Mariam Lashkhi in the company of her colleagues met with the Education Minister of Azerbaijan

Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, with her colleagues, held a meeting with the Education Minister of Azerbaijan, Emin Amrullayev, and the delegation members.

The discourse encompassed the cooperation prospects in various directions, with a central focus on the joint projects, partnership in the higher and vocational education sphere, and the opportunity of joint research activities.

The parties discussed cooperation between the Georgian and Azerbaijani Academies of Science.

The meeting also addressed Georgian-language schools in Azerbaijan and the teaching of the Georgian language and literature to ethnic Georgians. The emphasis was placed on Azerbaijani-language schools in Georgia.

“We expressed our gratitude to the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan for the fact that, despite the process of optimising small schools in the regions, Georgian-language schools were not affected by these changes. We also discussed the possibility of establishing a joint vocational college which would help prepare essential human resources for the energy sector the deep-sea port and the construction of the submarine cable,” - stated Mariam Lashkhi.

The meeting additionally addressed matters related to the upcoming visit of Georgian MPs to Azerbaijan.

The meeting was attended by Giorgi Chakvetadze, First Deputy Chair of the Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Committee; Giorgi Sosiashvili, Deputy Chair of the Committee; and Irakli Kadagishvili, Head of the Georgia–Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group.
