
Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee and the Head of the Georgia-Japan Friendship Group, in the company of the First Deputy Chair of the Economic Policy Committee, Irakli Mezurnishvili, met with the members of the House of Representatives of Japan, MAKISHIMA Karen and KAWASAKI Hideto.
The parties reviewed parliamentary cooperation prospects and underlined the significance of the exchange visits scheduled for 2026.
The meeting addressed bilateral cooperation and specific projects. The discussion included the establishment of response mechanisms for natural disasters and disaster prevention, in which Japan has considerable experience.
The parties touched upon cooperation in the cybersecurity domain.
Regarding future relations, the parties emphasised the twinning perspective between the Georgian city of Tskaltubo and the Japanese city of Hakone. As noted, both cities are renowned for their exceptional resorts and healing springs.
The meeting was attended by the members of the House of Representatives of Japan, MAKISHIMA Karen and KAWASAKI Hideto, who is also a parliamentary vice-president for digital transformation.
