Four Committees Jointly Endorsing Vote of Confidence for Candidate of Minister of Justice, Anri Okhanashvili

At a joint session of the Legal Issues, Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration, Defense and Security, and Rules and Procedural Issues Committees, members discussed the vote of confidence for the candidate for Minister of Justice, Anri Okhanashvili, and their support for the government program.

Anri Okhanashvili stated that the Georgian government aims to build a strong, just, and united state where every citizen has equal opportunities, and state institutions serve them efficiently and transparently.

He emphasized that to achieve these goals, the Ministry of Justice will continue its work in several key areas.

"The first significant direction will be legislative activities. In this regard, we plan a reform of codifying legislative acts, including the development of a Land Code. Another important issue related to codification concerns specific efforts aimed at full integration into the European Union. Specifically, the Ministry will proactively identify, harmonize, and monitor the alignment process of relevant EU legal acts, ensuring their registration in a unified electronic database on legal harmonization", - the ministerial candidate stated.

Anri Okhanashvili highlighted that the second main focus of the Ministry's activities is ensuring accessibility to services for citizens. By 2028, the goal is to expand the operational coverage of Justice Houses to all municipalities.

The candidate added that mobile Justice House projects will also continue in this area. Additionally, the government plans to make state services accessible via mobile applications.

"The Ministry will maintain the highest standards implemented in the penitentiary system and work towards further improvements. Specific steps will also be taken to develop the Probation Service. These include expanding and continuing the process of constructing, renovating, rehabilitating, and equipping penitentiary facilities to high standards. Rehabilitation programs for inmates and probationers will be updated, new programs will be developed as needed, and participation in these programs will increase", - Anri Okhanashvili stated.

Another key focus is implementing measures to prevent juvenile delinquency.

The ministerial candidate stated that the Ministry’s representative function in international arbitrations and courts in foreign countries will remain a priority.

Following his presentation, Anri Okhanashvili answered questions from Members of Parliament.

Committee members supported Anri Okhanashvili’s candidacy for the position of Minister of Justice and the government program.
