The Health Care and Social Issues Committee and the Parliamentary Political Group “People’s Power” initiated a meeting with the interns on “Demographic Policy in Georgia”.

The meeting was attended by the Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Zaza Lominadze, the Chair of the Political Group “People’s Power”, Dimitri Khundadze, and the Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, Mariam Lashkhi.

MPs reviewed the demographic challenges in Georgia, including the impact of the low birthrate on national security, the high level of immigration and the ageing of the population.

The role and engagement of the students in the formation of the demographic policy were highlighted.

Members of Parliament dwelt on the legal initiatives facilitating the improvement of the demographic situation.

The interns expressed their positions on the solutions in the said domain.
