The Interim Commission on Women and Children held a working meeting in the Parliament to deliberate on the protection of children in the digital space.
The Commission heard information from representatives of various agencies regarding the activities they undertake—within their respective competencies—for the prevention of and response to cyberbullying among children.
“Protecting children’s rights in the digital space is one of the key priorities of the Commission. We plan to establish a working group with the involvement of relevant agencies, and together we will work on improving the regulatory framework. If necessary, we will also prepare a package of legal amendments. During the meeting, we discussed state support programs and the importance of raising public awareness. Coordinated work between institutions is essential to ensure that state resources are used efficiently and that the best interests of the child are protected in the country, especially in the digital environment”, - stated Mariam Lashkhi.
The working meeting was attended by representatives of the Interior Ministry; the Education, Science and Youth Ministry; the Public Defender’s Office; the Communications Commission; the School Resource Officers’ Service; the Digital Governance Agency; and the National Center for Teacher Professional Development.
