The Chair of the Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration Committee, Rati Ionatamishvili, met with students of the Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium.

During the meeting, he introduced the students to the committee’s mandate, its main areas of activity, and issues related to its organisational functioning.

The Chair also spoke to the students about the history of Georgian constitutionalism, the constitutional reform carried out by the 11th convocation of Parliament, and the procedure for reviewing the report of the Public Defender in Parliament.

The meeting was held in a question-and-answer format. Rati Ionatamishvili responded to students’ questions on topics including the principle of separation of powers, the role of the opposition in Parliament, parliamentary oversight, citizen participation in decision-making processes, the competences of autonomous republics and the procedures for their exercise, access to education, protection of children’s rights, and other related issues.

“We always place great importance on meeting with young people and school students. These meetings serve as a strong source of motivation, stimulus, and responsibility for our work. Our main objective is to leave the next generation with fewer unresolved problems and more opportunities for development”, - stated Rati Ionatamishvili.
