
The Vice-Speaker, Giorgi Kakhiani, the Chair of the Procedural Issues and Rules Committee, Irakli Kadagishvili and the Majority MP David Matikashvili paid tribute to 23 persons fallen during the armed conflicts of the 90s, now reintermented from the occupied territory of Abkhazia; the civic memorial service was held in the Trinity Cathedral.
“It is the gravest reality and a tragedy but the delegation of the identified cadaveric bodies to their families brings release to some extent since these people were considered missing for years. Today, the Majority MPs commemorate the deceased and express our condolences to their families”, - G. Kakhiani noted.
21 bodies out of 23 were military servants and 2 were civilians, who were considered missing.
“We commemorated the Georgian heroes fallen in the Abkhazia war. It reminds us of the gravest consequences of this war, the tragedy and pain, as well as the heroism of these people manifested several decades ago”, - I. Kadagishivli stated.
