Rules and Procedural Issues Committee Reviews Amendment to the Law on State Symbols of National Importance

The Rules and Procedural Issues Committee reviewed, under a simplified procedure, the legislative initiative submitted by Members of Parliament - Davit Matikashvili and Irakli Shatakishvili regarding amendments to the Law of Georgia on State Symbols of National Importance.

Presenting the initiative, First Deputy Chair of the Committee, Irakli Shatakishvili, explained that the proposed amendment concerns the extension of a deadline stipulated in the transitional provisions of the law. Specifically, the amendment allows state institutions additional time to coordinate and approve national symbols of state significance with the LEPL State Council of Heraldry of Georgia.

Under the revised provision, the deadline is postponed from 1 June 2025 to 1 June 2027.

The Committee expressed unanimous support for the proposed amendment.
