Shalva Papuashvili met with the Speaker of the Lower House of the Indian Parliament

The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, within the framework of his visit to India, visited the Indian Parliament.


The Parliamentary delegation was welcomed at the sessions of the Lower and Upper Houses of the Indian Parliament.


Shalva Papuashvili made a record in the Golden Book of the honorary guests of the Indian parliament.


He met with the Speaker of the Lower House, Om Birla.


The parties gave a positive assessment of bilateral relations, proving to progress successfully in various directions.


At this juncture, the significance of the first official visit of Shalva Papuashvili to India was highlighted.


Speaker Papuashvili expressed his sincere gratitude to the Indian side for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.


As noted, the Embassy of India has already been established in Tbilisi and Georgia anticipates the appointment of the first Ambassador.


The two counterparts addressed the parliamentary cooperation prospects and underlined the significance of the meeting held within the IPU in Uzbekistan this year.


The discourse encompassed the cooperation in travel, economy, tourism, culture and education domains, as well as the increasing value of the middle corridor and its potential.


Mr Papuashvili invited his Indian counterpart on the response visit to Georgia.


The Parliamentary Delegation, headed by Shalva Papuashvili, is composed of: Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee; Shota Berekashvili, Chair of the Economic Policy Committee; Vasil Chigogidze, Head of the Georgia-India Friendship Group; and Greta Tsitsava, Deputy Chair of the Faction “Georgian Dream”.
