
Shota Berekashvili, the Chair of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee hosted his Azerbaijani counterpart, the Chair of the Committee for Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising of the Milli Majlis, Azer AMIRASLANOV to deliberate on the Georgia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership.
The central focus of the discourse was the paramount importance of the middle corridor and its potential for efficient transit. Additionally, the parties emphasized the mutually beneficial nature of the partnership, which aims to maximize the utilization of the corridor’s capabilities.
“During our recent meeting with our Azerbaijani counterparts, we reviewed the trade volume between the two nations, which totaled 1.3 billion USD. Notably, Georgia’s exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 780 million USD. We emphasized our shared commitment to enhancing trade capacity. We also underscored the substantial investments made by Azerbaijan in Georgia through various Azerbaijani companies, such as SOCAR, as well as developer companies, banks, and other entities. Additionally, we highlighted several promising projects that are currently underway in this direction”, - Shota Berekashvili noted.
According to him, it was reiterated that the strategic partnership with Azerbaijan is promising to establish peace and stability in the region and hence, it is imperative to ensure economic growth in both our countries.
The meeting was attended by the member of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, Anton Obolashvili.
