“We are considering the Draft Law on Protection of Family Values and Minors; it is directed against no one but constitutes the protection of certain values, which are the family and minors”, - the Chair of the Political Group “People’s Power”, Sozar Subari stated at the universal-public consideration of the Draft Constitutional Laws in Zugdidi.
According to him, approximately 10 million children are being raised in same-sex families today; scientific studies revealed that these children encounter mental and emotional problems and disorders two or even three times acuter.
“When these children grow up and intend to speak about their childhood traumas and pains, it appears they are deprived of all possibilities - social networks, media, radio etc.; it appears that the rights of these very people are not protected in the countries, where LGBT propaganda is extremely intense and lobbied. People are deprived of the opportunity to express their positions, opinions and personal emotions. On the one hand, the rights of children are thus violated, and on the other hand, the freedom of expression is restricted to prevent societies from being informed about the pains of these children raised in same-sex families. In fact, thus, human rights are not protected but curbed”, - he noted.
As he noted, the fact that Georgia stands not alone in this fight for national and traditional values is crucial.
“Poland, Hungary and other European countries apply much stricter legislation in this direction. There may be a lack of the forces in many countries that would protect these values but various European countries have upcoming elections ahead this year and the conservative forces protecting these very values come front, gaining high chances to win. So, Georgia is never alone in this battle and we have not invented any new mechanisms that were not applied in the world. Thus, this is the Law that will protect our traditions, values, religion and future – our children”, - he stated
