
The Defense and Security Committee members unanimously approved the election of Tengiz Sharmanashvili as the First Deputy Chair after the position of Deputy Chair.
The Deputy Defense Minister, Grigol Giorgadze introduced the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkey, the Government of Georgia and the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe on “Air Situation Data Exchange” between the Control and Reporting Center (CRC) (Erzurum, Turkey) and the Air Operations Center (AOC) (Tbilisi, Georgia)”.
As the reporter elucidated, the agreement between the two countries was concluded in 2008 on exchanging non-classified information, while the MOU includes exchanging classified information. According to him, the Memorandum facilitates the enhancement of cooperation with NATO and the improvement of interoperability. As the document envisages, Turkey is assigned as a conductor country of classified information for NATO member states.
The Committee approved the document.
