The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Zaza Lominadze met with the students participating in the post-diploma medical education program to deliberate on the challenges in the sphere.
According to the opinion of the students, the post-diploma medical education – residency – envisaging the training of the medical specialists in line with the modern standards and international recommendations, fails to meet the current requirements and thus, requires further improvements.
The students introduced their positions about the solutions and dwelt on the reasons for the outflow of young specialists from their professional careers.
“The problems in the sphere do exist. This is our second meeting with the students; they introduced their proposals about the reforming of the said field. It is paramount that our positions mostly coincide with their proposals, including the insufficiency of the vacancies in the residency. It is as well noteworthy that lots of residency programs are costly and we also encounter a deficit of vacancies for particularly demanded medical majors. These are the challenges that shall be addressed in collaboration with the Ministry and our decision will be soon introduced”, - Z. Lominadze noted.
