Beka Odisharia: The Georgian diaspora is an integral part of the Georgian state, and the government is making active efforts to harness the full potential of our diaspora for the economic growth and development of the country

Beka Odisharia: The Georgian diaspora is an integral part of the Georgian state, and the government is making active efforts to harness the full potential of our diaspora for the economic growth and development of the country

Beka Odisharia, Chairman of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, and members of the committee: Nodar Turdzeladze, Resan Kontselidze and Fridon Injia, held a meeting with the representatives of the Georgian diaspora working in Ireland within the framework of their working visit to the Republic of Ireland.

The parliamentary delegation met the famous athlete and coach, Zaur Antia, the head of the Georgian Culture Center, Lela Shurupova, and the head of the Georgian Social Platform, Tamar Berishvili.

At the meeting, a discussion was held on the challenges faced by the Georgian diasporas in Europe, including the Georgian diaspora in Ireland.

They talked about the role of the diaspora, not only in promoting Georgia abroad, but also in the direction of using the diaspora potential in the reconstruction of the country

"Recently, the state's policy towards the diaspora has undergone a significant transformation. Previously, there was a negative narrative that portrayed the diaspora as a major challenge and a drain on human resources. However, there has been a shift in this attitude. Today, the state no longer sees the diaspora solely as a challenge, but as an opportunity with tremendous potential. It recognizes that the diaspora can make a unique and valuable contribution to the significant growth and development of our country”, - Beka Odisharia stated.

Beka Odisharia invited representatives of the Diaspora to the Great Economic Forum of the Diaspora, which is planned to be held in Tbilisi in May next year.

The meeting was attended by: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Ireland, H.E. Giorgi Zurabashvili and representatives of the embassy.
