Meeting of the First Deputy Chair of the Culture Committee with the President of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt

The First Deputy Chair of the Culture Committee, Irakli Mezurnishvili held a meeting with the President of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, Dr. Gunnar Schellenberger and a newly appointed Ambassador of Germany, H.E. Ernst Peter Fischer.
I. Mezurnishvili introduced the priorities of the Committee. The parties agreed on close cooperation and expressed an idea to set up the working group with the engagement of German experts. The German officials expressed intact support to the EU integration of Georgia, which has progressed to an active phase.
“We discussed our possible cooperation formats and stressed the set-up of the working group to study the cultural monuments, restoration of the fortresses and maximal application of the tourist potential. Dr. Schellenberger expressed interest in this sphere since he holds rich respective experience and is glad to find out this direction as one of our priorities. We set the plans for our visit to Germany after the set-up of the working group. Sharing the German experience is important for us since Germany has already been through this process. On the one hand, we shall restore and preserve the fortresses in our country, and on the other hand, we shall load them with investments to ensure the maintenance of their appearance and creation of job opportunities, as well as the development of tourism and further promote Georgia. Our meeting ended with the set of a certain plan, including the set-up of the working group and the working process. German guests hope for successful cooperation”, - I. Mezurnishvili stated.
He delivered the gifts to the guests – his documentary “Quarter Century” reflecting the history of friendship between Georgia and Germany.
