The Deputy Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, Merab Kvaraia held the working meeting to discuss the project “Civil Budget in Georgia”, which is necessary for Georgian citizens.

It is a novelty launched a couple of years ago with support of international donor organizations as an effective civic engagement instrument allowing the citizens introducing their problems, projects, lobbying them and won the financing in the budget of the next year.

“The process is very interesting and equipped with the instruments oriented to the needs of the citizens. Hence, we believe the project to be discussed in the Parliament. If the project appears to require legislative support, we are committed to cooperate with the executive authority, develop the respective legal initiative and reflect it in the legislation”, - M. Kvaraia noted.

The project will be summed up on November 29 at the conference where the parties reconcile their positions.

The meeting was attended by MPs, civil sector, NGOs and local authorities and experts.
