The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee deliberated and approved the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection for the I reading.
According to the amendments, the LEPL Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Personal Data Protection Service shall be annulled as of March 1, 2026, and their functions shall be delegated to the State Audit Office.
According to the reporter, Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee, Archil Gorduladze, the amendments ensure the restoring back to the constitutional basics as regarding the Special Investigation Service when its authorities were delegated to the constitutional body - Prosecution Office.
The legal package envisages the introduction of amendments to 32 laws.
The legal package is authored and initiated by MPs Archil Gorduladze, Tornike Cheishvili, Alexander Tabatadze, David Matikashvili, Rati Ionatamishvili, Aluda Gudushauri, Tengiz Sharmanashvili, Guram Macharashvili and Akaki Aladashvili.
