Alexander Tabatadze, Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee, participated in the commemoration ceremony honoring the fallen heroes during the Battle of Gumista.

Accompanied by representatives from the Defense Ministry and the Abkhazia AR State Service of Veterans Affairs, he placed a wreath at the Memorial to the Heroes who sacrificed their lives for Territorial Integrity.

“One of the most pivotal battles fought by the Georgians against their adversaries was the battle of March 16. The decisive role of artillery in this battle tipped the scales in favor of Georgia, who emerged victorious in the unequal conflict. This heroic act prevented the invasion of Abkhazia by the invading forces. Georgia has consistently emerged victorious at the cost of the sacrifices of its heroes. I offer my respects to pay tribute to these valiant individuals”, - he stated.

The ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Chair of the Defense and Security Committee, Tengiz Sharmanashvili.
