The Chairman of the Agrarian Issues Committee and Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, Gela Samkharauli, along with members of the Agricultural Affairs Committee of the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania, paid tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives on April 9, 1989.
"Today holds immense significance for Georgians. April 9 symbolizes both a profound tragedy and a testament to heroism and unwavering dedication. On this day in 1989, the bloodshed of our heroes did not go in vain. Exactly two years later, in 1991, we proudly declared our independence. It is imperative that we honor the memory of the fallen and reaffirm to the Georgian people that we will always emerge victorious because we are a nation that cherishes freedom”, - Gela Samkharauli stated.
It has been 35 years since the tragic events of April 9, 1989.
