Nikoloz Samkharadze met with the Head of the Turkey-Georgia Friendship Group of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey

Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, met with the Head of the Turkey-Georgia Friendship Group of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Faruk Çelik and the Group members.
The parties deliberated on the Georgia-Turkey friendly and strategic relations, active parliamentary cooperation and further prospects.
Special emphasis was placed on the Georgia-Turkey-Azerbaijan trilateral cooperation, serving as a good model of the regional cooperation and facilitating the regional security and stability.
N. Samkharadze informed his Turkish colleagues about the held elections, domestic political situation, economic progress and the future perspectives.
The parties reviewed the regional security issues, including the Black Sea security, Russian aggression in Ukraine, the Azerbaijan-Armenia situation and the peacekeeping processes, as well as the situation in the regions of Georgia occupied by Russia.
Emphasis was placed on the significance of the long-lasting peace and the pivotal role of Turkey and Georgia in this process.
The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Chair of the Committee, Irakli Shatakishvili, Committee member David Dolidze, and the Head of the Georgia-Turkey Friendship Group, Giorgi Chkonia.
