The Economic Policy Committee reviewed the legal initiatives

Media and Society 16 Dec 2025
The Economic Policy Committee reviewed the legal initiatives
At a meeting of the Economic Policy Committee, the Deputy Economy and Sustainable Development Minister, Tamar Ioseliani, briefed committee members on documents submitted by the Government of Georgia for ratification.

The reporter introduced the following agreements, prepared on the basis of the “Open Skies” principle: the Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Seychelles on Air Services; the Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of Iceland on Air Services; the Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on Air Services; and the Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Rwanda on Air Services.

According to the Deputy Minister, Georgia has already concluded similar agreements with various countries around the world, which ensure direct air connectivity and passenger transportation between the contracting states.

At the meeting, the Deputy Environmental Protection and Agriculture Minister, Zurab Ezugbaia, introduced, at the I reading, a draft law on Vine and Wine.

According to the reporter, the draft law aims to introduce a set of measures and regulations related to the further development of the viticulture and winemaking sector.

“The draft law concerns the entrepreneurial sector, specifically the category of entrepreneurial vineyards, and is focused on promoting the production of high-quality wine and spirits. Under the proposed amendments, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture suggests introducing a mandatory approval for the establishment of new entrepreneurial vineyards, which will be issued by the National Wine Agency,” - the Deputy Minister stated.

The meeting also discussed amendments to the Law on Motor Roads, introduced by the Chair of the Committee, Shota Berekashvili.

According to him, the draft law provides for an increase of the roadside protection zone along international motor roads from 100 meters to 200 meters.

“On both sides of the road axis of international motor roads, the roadside zone will be defined as 200 meters. Accordingly, any type of activity within this zone will be permitted only on the basis of prior agreement with the road owner. Under the draft law, the Government of Georgia will determine by decree the specific sections of motor roads to which this regulation will apply, as well as the types of activities subject to the requirement of prior agreement,” - Shota Berekashvili stated.

The Committee approved the documents.
