Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, met with the  Chair of the Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Sports and Youth Committee of the National Assembly of Armenia, Sisak Gabrielyan, and the Committee members.

 

The parties emphasized the friendly and partnership relations between Georgia and Armenia, highlighting the need for regional development and the importance of peacebuilding policy in this regard. Special emphasis was placed on cooperation in the education and science spheres. 

 

According to M. Lashkhi, it is crucial to intensify relations with Armenia at all levels and cooperate to achieve peace in the region. 

 

“The delegation members expressed their gratitude to Georgia for contributing to the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement. We dwelt on the cooperation prospects in trilateral format, as well as the joint communique on Georgia-Armenia cooperation, the significance of the Center for Georgian Studies at Yerevan University, the perspectives of the exchange programs for the students and the facilitation of the study of the Georgian language in the border-cross villages”, - she noted.

 

The meeting was attended by Giorgi Chakvetadze, the First Deputy Chair of the Committee; Giorgi Sosiashvili, the Deputy Chair of the Committee; and the Committee members Vladimir Kakhadze, Lika Shartava and Vladimir Bozhadze.
