The Agriculture Committee Heard the Activity Report of the National Wine Agency

The Agriculture Committee held an off-site hearing at the LEPL National Wine Agency, where it heard the report of the Agency’s Chairperson, Levan Mekhuzla.
The Head of the Agency presented the National Wine Agency’s 2024 activity report and spoke about the activities carried out during the current year.
According to him, the Agency’s main mandate is to promote the development of the viticulture and winemaking sector, and to achieve this goal, the Agency operates in several key areas.
Levan Mekhuzla stated that these areas include the development of viticulture, the promotion of Georgian wine, the organization of the grape harvest (Rtveli), as well as laboratory research on Georgian vine varieties and wine.
The Head of the Agency provided detailed information on each of these areas and presented statistical data related to the reporting period.
“In 2024, wine worth USD 276.1 million was exported from Georgia to 72 countries. According to data for the first 11 months of 2025, wine exports amounted to USD 245 million. In the first 11 months of the current year alone, Georgia received nearly USD 500 million in revenue from the export of wine and alcoholic beverages”, - said Levan Mekhuzla.
While presenting the activity report, he also spoke about the processing of vineyard cadastral data nationwide and the ongoing work aimed at establishing a comprehensive cadastral system.
Particular attention was paid to the steps taken to promote Georgian wine and to the importance of presenting various types of wine at international exhibitions and events.
According to the reporter, the Agency continues to actively engage in international cooperation to increase exports of Georgian wine and to identify new markets.
He also addressed cooperation with relevant parliamentary committees and expressed gratitude for the committees’ support of several legislative initiatives.
